People often ask this because “deep cleaning” gets used loosely — by cleaning companies, by real estate agents, by anyone who wants to convey “really clean.” But there’s a meaningful difference between a standard maintenance clean and a genuine deep clean, and it’s worth knowing what you’re getting.
What a standard recurring clean covers
A standard visit covers the essentials: kitchen counters, stovetop, sink, and exterior of appliances; bathrooms fully cleaned; floors swept and mopped or vacuumed; dusting throughout; trash emptied; beds made. It’s designed to maintain a home that’s already reasonably clean, keeping it at that level visit after visit.
What a deep clean adds on top
A deep clean includes everything in a standard visit, plus:
- Baseboards, door frames, and trim — wiped or scrubbed, including corners and joints
- Both sides of doors, handles, and edges
- Light switches and outlet covers
- Interior of microwave
- Exterior detail of all appliances — grease, grime, and fingerprints
- Cabinet doors and drawer fronts
- Window sills and tracks
- Heavy build-up and soap scum removal in bathrooms
- Behind and under furniture where accessible
These are the areas that get skipped or rushed in a standard clean and that slowly accumulate grime, dust, and build-up over months of regular use.
When to book a deep clean
First-time clients. We recommend most new clients start with a deep clean before switching to recurring service. It gives us a thorough baseline to work from and gives your home the kind of reset that makes every subsequent visit more effective.
Spring cleaning. Once a year, most homes benefit from a full top-to-bottom reset. This is what “spring cleaning” actually means — not just tidying up, but addressing the things that haven’t been touched since last year.

Before a big event. Hosting a family gathering, a holiday party, or out-of-town guests? A deep clean beforehand means you’re hosting from a genuinely clean house, not just a tidied-up one.
When it’s been a while. If you’ve gone months without a cleaning service (or without cleaning yourself), a deep clean is the right starting point. Jumping straight into a recurring plan when the house needs a reset means the first few visits are fighting a backlog.
Deep clean vs. move-out clean
These overlap significantly but have different emphases. A deep clean focuses on thoroughness throughout the home; a move-out clean often goes further on specific things — cleaning inside appliances, inside cabinets, and making sure walls, fixtures, and floors meet landlord inspection standards.
